Facility Manager – Administrative Operations

As the Facility Manager, you will serve as a key resource for maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations while supporting faculty, researchers, staff, students, and external partners. In this position, you will act as the primary point of coordination between laboratory operations, facility systems, and institutional service providers to help ensure research spaces and infrastructure remain operational and aligned with evolving needs. You will play an important role in supporting a complex research facility where collaboration, service, and operational excellence are essential to daily success. 

 

The Facilities Management group is growing on campus, focused on providing professional service to our building occupants and developing individuals into a cohesive team.  Our facilities range from complex labs, offices, classrooms and even real estate properties.

 

What You'll Do

  • Manage day-to-day facility operations, serving as the primary point of contact for building-related services and operational needs
  • Coordinate maintenance, repairs, preventive maintenance activities, and service requests with Purdue Physical Facilities and external vendors
  • Support building safety and security efforts, including emergency planning, safety inspections, training coordination, and compliance initiatives
  • Oversee shipping, receiving, distribution, and material movement activities, including support for specialized laboratory operations
  • Coordinate access control processes and work with campus security and public safety partners to maintain secure operations
  • Support space planning activities, occupancy tracking, facility moves, and small operational projects
  • Collaborate with principal investigators, faculty, engineers, staff, students, and service providers to ensure the facility remains a productive environment for research and innovation

What We're Looking For

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in managing facilities or facilities operations
  • Must obtain IFMA FMP certification within first 6 months
  • Equivalent experience will be considered

 

Skills Required:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels, both internal and external to the university
  • Knowledge of Safety/OHSA standards
  • Ability to implement safety compliance and enforce in a fair and equitable manner
  • Must be a motivated individual who will take initiative to solve problems, assume responsibility and meet deadlines
